Videos From the Program

Event Success!

The event that was held this past Thursday was a success. The men of Alpha Phi Alphi Fraternity Incorporated and their Queen Ms. Betta Gamma hosted an awesome event with spoken word performances and the sharing of personal events. It was a very intense program that sparked a lot of talk and awareness of the dangers and affects of suicide and we believe that the people who attended the event left with more of an understanding of the matter. Below are a few pictures and clips of the event.

Today there will be a program held in Foster Hall room 300 by Briana Norwood Miss Betta Gamma, the Men of Alpha phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and P.A.N.I.C. 2000. Miss Norwood's platform for her title is Suicide. In conjunction with P.A.N.I.C. 2000 she will be speaking on the affects that Suicide can cause on our community, how to reach out to someone you may think is contemplating suicide, and much more information. Please come out and support the cause!

Permanent Solution for Temporary Problems

Here are a couple quotes that I have come across about Suicide that may help some people:

“Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.”
-Phil Donahue

Razors pain you;
Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you;
And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren’t lawful;
Nooses give;
Gas smells awful;
You might as well live.

-Dorothy Parker

Suicide in Black Community

Suicide is commonly seen as something that occurs in the "white community". Unfortunately it has been on the rise in the black community and because it is not seen as a problem, people of color are afraid to find counseling and answers to their problems. The "Suicide Prevention Resource Center" reported that suicide was the third leading cause of death for black americans between the ages of 15 and 24. This hits fairly close to home, and the statistics encompass many characteristics of people in my own community.Here are more statistics from the "Suicide Prevention Resource Center". http://www.sprc.org/library/black.am.facts.pdf

WELCOME

Welcome to "Love Live Life"! This blog was started to promote a program sparking awareness for suicide. We are not counselors or professionals, just students hoping to reach out to those who feel as though suicide could not possibly affect them. Just so you know, the issue hits home way more than some think and is also an issue that is slowly on the rise. If you have any comments or thoughts, please feel free to comment!
