The event that was held this past Thursday was a success. The men of Alpha Phi Alphi Fraternity Incorporated and their Queen Ms. Betta Gamma hosted an awesome event with spoken word performances and the sharing of personal events. It was a very intense program that sparked a lot of talk and awareness of the dangers and affects of suicide and we believe that the people who attended the event left with more of an understanding of the matter. Below are a few pictures and clips of the event.
Social Media Campaign Forum was on Suicide Awareness held on April 21, 2011. This event was hosted by the current Miss Beta Gamma 2011, Briana Norwood and was held in conjunction with her royal court cabinet, the men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and P.A.N.I.C. 2000.
ReplyDeleteThe program began with a candle lighting ceremony and a spoken word piece by Mr. Damont Dillard, a member of P.A.N.I.C. 2000. Statistics were then read by everyone in the room. As the audience began to loosen up, we transitioned into a monologue delivered by Mr. D’mario Hill, also a member of P.A.N.I.C. 2000.
Immediately following the monologue, the floor was then opened to anyone who wanted to speak on the topic of Suicide. Most of the audience explained how suicide has either affected themselves or their families. Also, Miss Beta Gamma shocked everyone by telling her own story of how she too tried to take her on life, twice.
With the closing of the event underway, there were very light refreshments served as the audience talked and mingled amongst themselves.
